Moffat made his BTCC debut with Finesse Motorsport in the Jack Sears Trophy for S2000 cars at the Knockhill round of the 2013 season. This debut, at 16 years, ten months, and 28 days old, broke the record previously held by Tom Chilton, who debuted in 2002 at 17 years and 17 days. Moffat's debut came less than 12 months after he had raced in the Ginetta Junior series finale at Brands Hatch.
During the 2013 season, Moffat missed the Rockingham round due to clashing racing commitments. Before the next round at Silverstone, he switched to Tony Gilham Racing, where he drove an NGTC Volkswagen CC for the remaining two rounds.
Moffat scored his first BTCC points in 2014 at Brands Hatch and achieved his maiden podium finish in the Independents' Trophy at Donington Park in 2015. He also secured a third-place finish at Knockhill that year. In 2016, he finished second at Brands Hatch GP in the final race of the season.
In the 2017 BTCC season, Moffat failed to score a point in the opening round but took his first overall win at Donington Park. He added a second victory in the final round at Brands Hatch GP. The following year, 2018, saw him claim two third-place finishes at Donington Park and another overall victory at Silverstone.
For the 2018 BTCC season, Moffat continued with Laser Tools Racing, a team he had been with since the 2014 season. He scored maximum points with a win in the third race of the penultimate round at Silverstone. He finished 12th in the overall drivers' standings and sixth in the Independents' Trophy.
In 2019, Laser Tools Racing switched from the front-wheel-drive Mercedes-Benz A-Class to the rear-wheel-drive Infiniti Q50. The Q50 debuted at Snetterton, where Moffat finished 21st, 20th, and 20th. He earned a second-place finish in Race 3 at Silverstone. At the end of the season, Moffat placed 18th in the main Drivers' championship with 89 points.
Moffat returned to BTCC in 2020 with Laser Tools Racing. He is set to compete in the BTCC for LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing, driving an Audi S3 Saloon.
Aiden Moffat won Junior Karting Championships in 2010 and 2011. His BTCC career highlights include three career race wins, four podium finishes, and the 2016 BRDC Rising Star Award. He was also the youngest driver ever to compete in the BTCC at age 16.
