Alexander George Lynn (born 17 September 1993) is a British racing driver from Great Dunmow, Essex, who won the 2014 GP3 Series title with Carlin before spending two seasons in GP2 and progressing to Formula E and ultimately Le Mans Hypercar racing. He scored an overall podium finish at the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans co-driving the Cadillac V-Series.R for Chip Ganassi Racing.

Lynn began karting at eleven years old. He was formative in British Formula Renault, winning the 2010 Winter Cup and the 2011 championship with Fortec Motorsport, claiming twelve victories in the main series. He competed twice in the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand, finishing second overall in 2013 as the highest-placed international driver. In British and European Formula Three he showed consistent speed, including a victory at the 2013 Macau Grand Prix โ€” where he dominated the main race from pole to become the first British winner since 2007 โ€” while racing for Theodore Racing by Prema.

As a member of the Red Bull Junior Team, Lynn raced for Carlin in the 2014 GP3 Series. He opened his account with a victory on debut at the Circuit de Catalunya, starting from pole and setting the fastest lap for maximum points. Further wins followed at the Red Bull Ring, where he again converted pole to a commanding victory, and in a sprint race in Belgium after finishing eighth in the feature race. Lynn led the championship standings from the opening round and managed his advantage through the remainder of the season, ultimately clinching the title in the Abu Dhabi season finale.

Following his GP3 title, Lynn joined DAMS for the 2015 GP2 season alongside fellow Red Bull junior Pierre Gasly. He won twice โ€” at Barcelona and the Hungaroring โ€” and finished sixth in the championship. He remained with DAMS for 2016, again winning two sprint races at Barcelona and Hockenheim, and again finished sixth in the final standings before leaving the team.

His GP3 title had also led to a post-season test with Lotus F1, and in January 2015 he was confirmed as a development driver for Williams, severing his ties with the Red Bull programme.

Lynn made his Formula E debut in July 2017 as a late stand-in for DS Virgin Racing, qualifying on pole in his first race at the New York ePrix though he retired from both events. He raced full-time for Virgin in 2017โ€“18 before moving through Jaguar and Mahindra across subsequent seasons. His career highlight in the series came in the 2020โ€“21 season with Mahindra, when he scored his first race win at the second London ePrix at the ExCeL circuit; he added two further podiums in the same season and finished twelfth in the championship, just 21 points behind champion Nyck de Vries.

Lynn joined Chip Ganassi Racing's Cadillac WEC programme for the 2023 season, partnering Earl Bamber and Richard Westbrook in the No. 2 Cadillac V-Series.R. The season reached its peak at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where the trio finished third overall โ€” Cadillac's first overall podium at Le Mans โ€” with Lynn contributing multiple stints through night and rain. He closed the year fifth in the WEC standings, the highest-scoring LMDh entry in the Hypercar field. He continued with the programme in 2024 and subsequently moved to Jota Sport for the 2026 WEC season.

Lynn's career path from karting through British junior formulae, GP3, GP2, Formula E, and ultimately endurance racing at Le Mans illustrates a versatility uncommon among drivers of his generation. His 2014 GP3 championship was secured wire-to-wire, and his 2023 Le Mans podium represented a major milestone for the Cadillac LMDh programme's return to top-class endurance racing.
