AM Racing entered the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in late 2015, announcing that Austin Wayne Self would pilot the No. 22 Toyota Tundra for the full 2016 season. In the season opener at Daytona, Self qualified nineteenth and finished in that position. After twelve races, the team's operations were effectively absorbed into a partnership with Win-Tron Racing, though the Self family retained an ownership stake. A partnership with Joe Gibbs Racing for engine power was announced for 2017.
In October 2017, AM Racing announced that Self would move to Niece Motorsports for 2018, effectively suspending the team. AM Racing then merged into Niece Motorsports for the 2018 season entirely, before separating in 2019 and fielding its own entries once again. Self returned full-time in the No. 22 truck for 2019 and recorded the team's first top-five finish at Michigan Speedway. Self was briefly suspended in April 2019 for violating NASCAR's substance abuse policy, with Bubba Wallace filling in for races at Martinsville and Texas before Self was reinstated.
Self's 2020 Truck Series campaign produced two top-ten finishes at Texas Motor Speedway and Martinsville Speedway, and he finished sixteenth in the final standings. A notable early result came at the 2017 season-opener at Daytona, where Self drove the No. 32 to a career-best second place finish after avoiding a late crash on the final lap. In January 2024, the No. 22 truck owner points were purchased by Reaume Brothers Racing.
AM Racing announced its entry into the NASCAR Xfinity Series in October 2022, with Brett Moffitt confirmed as the full-time driver of the No. 25 in 2023. For 2024 the team expanded to a second car: the No. 15, driven by Hailie Deegan under a multi-year deal with AirBox and Viva Tequila Seltzer as sponsors. Following a string of disappointing results, two-time Cup Series champion Joey Logano was signed to replace Deegan for the Chicago street race, where he finished eighth. AM Racing and Deegan officially parted ways on 8 July 2024, with Josh Berry and Lawless Alan each making appearances in the No. 15 later that season.
Harrison Burton was announced as the No. 25 driver for the 2025 season in September 2024. For 2026, Nick Sanchez was confirmed in the No. 25 in February, while Daniel Dye was announced to compete part-time in a No. 52 entry.
Following the merger of Win-Tron Racing into AM Racing for the 2021 season, the team also fielded entries in the ARCA Menards Series. Christian Rose drove the No. 32 car full-time in 2023, while Kole Raz made starts in the No. 76 in 2025.
In 2020, AM Racing moved into the former Front Row Motorsports race shop in Statesville, North Carolina, sharing space with Jordan Anderson Racing and Win-Tron Racing while remaining a separate organisation. AM and Win-Tron announced a formal merger in January 2021. In November 2025, an acquisition by fellow ARCA team Sigma Performance Services was announced, with the combined entity to race as SPS Racing. However, by 30 January 2026 the acquisition was confirmed as never finalised, and on 15 May 2026 AM Racing formally ceased operations.
