Cola began racing at the age of ten in 2009, competing in karting in the Italian Championship Regione Lazio. He started in the 60 cc category in 2009 and 2010 before moving to the 125 cc junior class in 2011 and 2012, finishing runner-up in the 2012 standings.
Cola's transition to car racing began in June 2016, when he debuted in the F2 Italian Trophy in the Formula Abarth category with Monolite Racing, joining mid-championship at Misano World Circuit. He took first place in his class in both races and finished second in the class standings at year's end.
His Formula 3 debut came on 1 April 2017 at Misano, driving a Dallara F312 with Mercedes power. He retired in the final corner of Race 1 while running second, then finished third in Race 2. That season Cola also competed in the Austria Formula 3 Cup and the FIA CEZ Formula 3 Championship. His first Formula 3 victory came in Race 2 at the Red Bull Ring circuit in Spielberg. Strong results at the final two races on the Brno Circuit secured him the 2017 FIA CEZ Formula 3 Championship title.
In 2018 Cola returned to the FIA CEZ Formula 3 Championship, now with Volkswagen power in his Dallara. He won his class in both opening races at the Hungaroring. At the Red Bull Ring round he finished third and second in the two races, behind Jo Zeller Racing driver Sandro Zeller who won both. Across the full season Cola accumulated 154.5 points — 27 more than runner-up Paolo Brajnik, with fellow Italian Ricardo Perego third — to take the championship for a second consecutive year. In the parallel Remus F3 Cup, he finished second with 160 points.
In 2019 Cola competed in the FIA CEZ Formula 3 Championship a third time, now on a Volkswagen-engined Dallara F312, and also contested the Drexler-Automotive Formula 3 Cup, where he finished second with 229 points. He was again second in the FIA CEZ standings with 129 points.
In 2020 Cola stepped up to the Formula Regional European Championship with Monolite Racing, completing 15 races to finish fourteenth in the championship.
He transitioned into GT competition in 2021, joining Target Racing in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe Pro-Am class. Over the season he took three wins, two pole positions and five podiums, finishing fourth in the Pro-Am standings.
In 2022 Cola raced in the Italian GT Championship for Vincenzo Sospiri Racing in a Lamborghini Huracán GT3, winning the Italian GT Endurance Pro-Am class title. He also appeared in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup Silver class.
For 2023 he joined Boutsen VDS for the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, driving an Audi R8 LMS Evo II in the Silver class. He scored 39 points across the season to finish seventh in the Silver Cup standings.
In 2024 Cola moved to Tresor Audi Sport Italia for both the Italian GT Sprint and Endurance Championships, recording two podiums in the Sprint series and one in the Endurance series. He also appeared in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup with Tresor Attempto Racing. In 2025 he contested the Italian GT Championship Endurance Cup with Audi Sport Italia, and in 2026 he is competing with Imperiale Racing.
