Andretti Global

Andretti Global is an American motorsports organization that fields teams in the IndyCar Series, Indy NXT, Formula E, and jointly in IMSA and the Australian Supercars Championship. The team has won the Indianapolis 500 six times, the CART championship once, and the IndyCar Series championship four times. Starting in 2026, Andretti Global's parent company TWG Motorsports will also operate the Cadillac Formula One Team in collaboration with General Motors.

The team was founded as Forsythe/Green Racing by Gerald Forsythe and Barry Green in 1993 and began competing in the CART Indy Car World Series the following year. Barry Green and his brother Kim took over the operation in 1995, renaming it Team Green; that year they won both the Indianapolis 500 and the CART championship with Jacques Villeneuve. In 2002, following Michael Andretti's purchase of a stake in the team, the outfit was renamed Andretti Green Racing and switched from CART to the rival Indy Racing League for the 2003 season.

After the transition to the IRL, Andretti Green Racing built one of the most formidable lineups in American open-wheel racing, with Tony Kanaan, Dario Franchitti, and Michael Andretti himself — who retired after the 2003 Indianapolis 500. Dan Wheldon joined and the team expanded to four cars, adding Bryan Herta. At the 2005 Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, the team filled the entire top four positions. Kanaan and Wheldon won back-to-back IndyCar Series championships in 2004 and 2005, with Wheldon also taking the 2005 Indianapolis 500.

In 2006, Wheldon departed for Target Chip Ganassi Racing. Michael Andretti came out of retirement to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 alongside his son Marco, and the two finished second and third in the second-closest finish in race history, with Marco narrowly losing to Sam Hornish Jr. From 2001 to 2010 the team had at least one driver finish in the top three at Indianapolis every year. In 2007, Danica Patrick joined the team, replacing Herta. Franchitti won both the 2007 Indianapolis 500 and the IRL championship before departing to NASCAR. The team repeated as Indy Lights champion in 2009 with J. R. Hildebrand.

On 24 November 2009, Michael Andretti acquired full control and renamed the team Andretti Autosport. Ryan Hunter-Reay joined for 2010 and delivered the team's first win of the season at Long Beach. The team continued to grow its driver academy, running entries in Indy Lights, Pro Mazda, and US F2000 alongside its IndyCar program. In 2012, Hunter-Reay won the IndyCar Series championship in a dramatic season finale at Fontana, where title rival Will Power spun with Hunter-Reay finishing fourth to secure the title. The team also won the 2014 Indianapolis 500 with Hunter-Reay, and claimed back-to-back Indy 500 victories in 2016 and 2017 with Alexander Rossi and Takuma Sato respectively. Colton Herta won the 2021 Grand Prix of Indianapolis for the team.

Beyond IndyCar, Andretti Autosport expanded into Formula E, claiming the drivers' championship in the 2022-23 season.

In September 2023, the team restructured and rebranded as Andretti Global while pursuing entry into Formula One. Dan Towriss joined as a minority owner. In 2024, Los Angeles Dodgers lead owner Mark Walter's TWG Global holding company purchased the team, with Towriss remaining as co-owner and CEO. The rebranded parent entity, TWG Motorsports, was awarded a Formula One entry beginning in 2026 in partnership with General Motors under the Cadillac banner.

The Indy NXT program — formerly Indy Lights — produced seven championships for the organisation across 2008, 2009, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2024, and 2025.
