Enfinger grew up in Fairhope, Alabama, on the Gulf of Mexico and attended the University of South Alabama, graduating in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in marketing. Before reaching the national level, he competed extensively on short tracks in the southeastern United States and posted the fastest lap at the 2007 Snowball Derby.
Enfinger began competing in the ARCA Re/Max Series in 2008 on a limited basis and continued part-time through 2010, when his family-owned team merged with RAB Racing. Moving to Allgaier Motorsports for 2011, he ran his first full ARCA season and won a pole at Berlin Raceway.
His career accelerated in 2013 when he moved to Team BCR Racing. He won at his home track of Mobile Speedway and followed it with a win at Iowa. In 2014 he won the first three races of the season at Daytona, Mobile, and Salem, adding a fourth win at Elko. A mid-season switch to GMS Racing intensified his points battle with Mason Mitchell; despite six wins on the year, engine failure and a crash in the final two races dropped Enfinger to second in the championship.
Enfinger returned to GMS for 2015, won the season opener at Daytona, and added five more victories to claim his first ARCA championship.
Enfinger made his Truck Series debut in 2010 and returned sporadically over the following seasons before GMS Racing gave him a full-time seat for 2016. He won the fall race at Talladega that year for his first career Truck Series victory. ThorSport Racing hired him full-time for 2017, and he won at Las Vegas in 2018 for his second Truck win.
In 2019, Enfinger clinched the Truck Series Regular Season Championship following the Michigan race, though he was eliminated from the playoffs at Las Vegas after an engine failure — one of four ThorSport trucks affected by the same issue — and NASCAR declined to reinstate him despite the engine manufacturer accepting responsibility.
The 2020 season was his most productive on ovals. He won the Daytona season opener over Jordan Anderson by 0.010 seconds in overtime, that victory being Ford's 100th win in the series. He added wins at Atlanta, Richmond, and Martinsville, the last of which put him in the Championship 4 where he finished fourth overall.
Following a part-time 2021 split between ThorSport and CR7 Motorsports, Enfinger joined GMS Racing full-time for 2022 and 2023. He won at Indianapolis Raceway Park in 2022, then posted wins at Kansas, Gateway, and Milwaukee in 2023, making the Championship 4 and finishing second in the final standings.
Enfinger moved to CR7 Motorsports full-time in 2024. He gave the small team its first NASCAR national series win at Talladega, reached the Championship 4 again, and scored another win at Homestead.
Enfinger made his Cup Series debut on June 8, 2023, filling in for Noah Gragson at Legacy Motor Club after Gragson suffered concussion-like symptoms; he finished 26th. His sole Xfinity Series start came at Charlotte in May 2021 for Sam Hunt Racing, where he qualified despite being unfamiliar with the car but crashed out after contact with another driver.
Enfinger married Michelle Dupre on January 16, 2016, in Fairhope. They have a son named Carson, born in June 2021. He is an avid outdoorsman who grew up near the Gulf Coast and has cited his Alabama roots as a defining part of his identity.
