Ebrahim was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, into a family with deep roots in Indian motorsport. His father, Akbar Ebrahim, is a former Formula 3 champion and a leading figure in Indian racing. The family is based in Chennai.
In December 2021, Ebrahim married Anushpala Kamineni, daughter of Anil and Shobana Kamineni. His wife's aunt, Upasana, is married to Telugu film star Ram Charan, whose father is the actor Chiranjeevi.
Ebrahim began competitive racing in karting and won the Formula LGB Championship in 2004. He moved to Formula BMW Asia for the 2005 season, and that same year represented A1 Team India in the A1 Grand Prix Championship, driving in six races before the team was disbanded due to a lack of funding. He returned to A1 Team India for the 2006–07 season on another partial schedule.
In 2007 he also competed in Formula V6 Asia, recording five race victories and finishing second in the championship standings.
Ebrahim drove for David Price Racing in the 2008 GP2 Asia Series, finishing 26th in points with a best result of ninth place.
On 12 December 2008, he was announced as the first — and ultimately only — Asian driver to sign for the revived FIA Formula Two Championship in 2009. He finished seventeenth in points, with a pair of sixth-place finishes at Brno representing his best results. He distinguished himself for his overtaking rate: the Formula Two website rated him as the "Driver with the Best Race Form," noting he overtook an average of eight cars per race.
He returned to the FIA Formula Two Championship in 2010 with MotorSport Vision, claiming his first podium finish at Circuit de Valencia and finishing tenth in points. He started 2011 with the same team but departed after twelve of the sixteen races, finishing fifteenth in points.
In 2012, Ebrahim signed with the newly formed Fan Force United team for the American Firestone Indy Lights series. He and the team parted ways mutually after five races, with a best finish of eighth in the season opener and a final classification of thirteenth in the championship.
From 2013 onwards, Ebrahim shifted his focus predominantly to GT competition. He competed for BMW Auto Service Team India in the FIA GT Series from April 2013 and raced in the 2014 Blancpain Sprint Series season with Team Fortec Motorsport, securing seven podium finishes in the Silver Cup class.
He then became a regular in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia series. In the 2015 season he raced alongside Dilantha Malagamuwa for Dilango Racing. In 2016 he won the Pro-Am Class championship and finished fourth overall, again with Dilango Racing. In 2017, he stepped up to the Pro class with FFF Racing Team, partnering British driver Jack Bartholomew. For 2018 he joined Team Top Speed alongside rookie Anindith Reddy, the pair taking a second-place finish in their first outing at Sepang.
In 2019, Ebrahim co-founded the X1 Racing League alongside fellow Indian driver Aditya Patel. Billed as the world's first professional franchise-based motorsport league, the series was designed to provide a structured competition platform within India and represented a significant entrepreneurial step beyond his own driving career.
Ebrahim's career reflects the challenges and persistence required of a driver operating outside the traditional European racing ladder with limited institutional backing. His distinction as the first Asian driver in the relaunched FIA Formula Two series and his consistent pace metrics in that championship highlighted his ability to compete at a high level, even as funding constraints limited his time in the sport's more prominent single-seater categories.
