Aston Martin Vantage GTE (Legacy DLC)

section:car
The Aston Martin Vantage GTE is one of the most decorated factory GT racing cars of the modern endurance era — a Le Mans–campaigned Grand Tourer that won the FIA WEC LMGTE Pro Constructor's Championship in 2019-20 and accumulated 15 race victories across a six-season career with [[aston-martin-racing|Aston Martin Racing]] before the GTE class itself was retired from major international motorsport. Its appearance in Forza Motorsport (2023) as Legacy DLC preserves a machine that competed at the highest level of GT racing alongside the [[fia-world-endurance-championship|FIA World Endurance Championship]]'s greatest events, including multiple 24 Hours of Le Mans campaigns.

The Aston Martin Vantage GTE (2018) was developed in tandem with the second-generation [[aston-martin-vantage|Aston Martin Vantage]] road car, with Aston Martin Racing building the competition version to FIA LMGTE Pro and LMGTE Am regulations. Its heart is a Mercedes-AMG M177 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged 90-degree V8, all-aluminium, 32-valve, producing 536 hp and driving through a 6-speed sequential manual transmission. Dry weight is 1,245 kg — the same benchmark as its GT3 sibling, despite the different regulatory framework governing GTE.

Launched in London on 22 November 2017, the car completed over 20,000 km of pre-season testing at circuits including Sebring International Raceway, Yas Marina, Motorland Aragon, and the Algarve International Circuit before its WEC debut at Circuit Paul Ricard. Development continued through its six competitive seasons: in 2019, a low-downforce kit was introduced specifically for the 24 Hours of Le Mans to reduce drag at circuit speeds, with aerodynamic effectiveness confirmed at Monza beforehand.

The car also raced in the European Le Mans Series under the ELMS umbrella and in selected IMSA events, giving Aston Martin Racing a transatlantic presence in GTE-class competition. Its designation as an "AMR" car — Aston Martin Racing — reflects the factory programme's ownership of the full development and campaign cycle.

The Vantage GTE's competitive record across 55 races with 15 victories, including the 2019-20 WEC Constructor's Championship and drivers' titles in both 2019-20 and 2022, makes it one of the most successful Aston Martin racing cars in the post-DBR9 era. Racing at Le Mans — the circuit that defines endurance GT competition — across multiple editions of the 24-hour race gives it the kind of heritage that draws sim racers who follow the [[fia-world-endurance-championship|FIA WEC]] and want to run machinery that carried factory Aston Martin liveries through the night at La Sarthe.

The retirement of the GTE class from the WEC after 2023 — replaced by GT3-spec machinery — means the Vantage GTE now represents a closed chapter: no new examples will contest Le Mans under LMGTE regulations. That finality gives the car the same nostalgic weight in virtual garages that retired Le Mans prototypes acquire over time, and it makes the Forza DLC preservation of the GTE spec particularly meaningful for the endurance community.

The Aston Martin Vantage GTE appears in Forza Motorsport (2023) as a Legacy DLC car. Its LMGTE homologation spec — GT3-adjacent but with distinct aerodynamic, tyre, and power regulations calibrated for endurance racing — provides Forza players with access to the actual factory configuration that [[aston-martin-racing|Aston Martin Racing]] campaigned in the WEC, distinct from the GT3 variants also present in the game's garage.
