Hill began racing at the age of six, competing in Legend cars and Bandolero racing before progressing through various disciplines. He captured a win in the K&N Pro Series East in 2013, despite only running five races that season. His first full season in the series came in 2014, where he won the final two races to finish fifth in the points standings. A strong 2015 season saw him capture a pole, two wins, and finish third in points. He ran one race in the series in 2016, finishing ninth.
Hill debuted in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2014 with RBR Enterprises, with finishes of 26th at Martinsville Speedway and twentieth at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He landed a part-time ride with Empire Racing in 2014, recording a best finish of sixteenth at Dover International Speedway in three other starts that year. In 2016, he ran a part-time schedule with his family-owned Austin Hill Racing, before joining Young's Motorsports in 2018, where he scored a top-five finish at Texas Motor Speedway.
In 2019, Hill joined Hattori Racing Enterprises full-time, scoring his first career Truck Series win at Daytona. He set a new track record at Pocono Raceway on his way to the pole later that season, and added wins at Michigan, Las Vegas, and Homestead, finishing fifth in the final points standings. He continued with HRE in 2020, qualifying for the playoffs and advancing to the Round of 8 with a win at Las Vegas.
Hill made his NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series debut in 2019 at Daytona, though he failed to qualify due to drive line issues. He scored a ninth-place finish in his debut at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In 2021, he became a full-time driver for Richard Childress Racing, securing his first career win at Daytona after passing A. J. Allmendinger on the final lap. The race concluded with a significant wreck involving Myatt Snider. He won again at Atlanta later that year, and finished sixth in the points standings, earning the 2022 NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series Rookie of the Year honors.
Hill continued his success in 2023, adding wins at Las Vegas, Atlanta, and Pocono to his record. In 2024, a collision with Cole Custer at Charlotte resulted in a crash and a US$25,000 fine and 25-point deduction for Hill, after he intentionally made contact with Custer’s car. He also won his third race of the season at Atlanta. During the 2025 season, Hill won at Martinsville and Talladega, but was issued a one-race suspension and lost all playoff points after being penalized five laps for intentionally right-rear hooking Aric Almirola at Indianapolis. He swept both races at Talladega that year.
Hill made his NASCAR Cup Series debut in 2022 at Michigan, and scored his first career top-ten finish in the series at the 2025 Chicago street race. He attempted the 2023 Daytona 500 but failed to qualify, finishing eighteenth in Duel 2 after a late crash.
