Bamboo Engineering was a motorsport team formed in July 2009 in Silverstone following the departure of team director Richard Coleman from Tempus Sport. In 2014 Bamboo merged with Craft Racing — a Hong Kong-based team founded by Frank Yu in 2009 — to form Craft-Bamboo Racing.

Bamboo ran former Tempus driver Harry Vaulkhard in the 2009 British Touring Car Championship, scoring several top-ten finishes to finish 16th overall in the championship.

Bamboo entered a pair of Chevrolet Lacettis in the 2009 European Touring Car Cup in Braga, Portugal. Vaulkhard and Duarte Fèlix da Costa qualified on the second row, finishing race 1 in 8th and 5th respectively. In race 2, Vaulkhard led in what would have been a championship-winning position before spinning out to finish 6th; da Costa also spun while leading and finished 7th.

In 2010 Bamboo entered the World Touring Car Championship with Vaulkhard and Darryl O'Young. Vaulkhard took the team's first WTCC Independents victory at the 2010 WTCC Race of Italy. O'Young secured the first ever victory for a Chinese driver in an FIA event at the 2010 WTCC Race of Portugal, then won Rounds 13 and 14 in Brno, earning the team's first pole position. O'Young was later given a 30-second time penalty in race one, demoting him from the victory. Yukinori Taniguchi replaced Vaulkhard for the latter part of the season, taking a class victory in Japan while O'Young won the second race at the same event. O'Young entered the final races in Macau as the only outside contender for the title held by Sergio Hernandez; a crash with Tom Coronel in race 1 ended his chances and he dropped to 4th in the standings. The team finished second in the Yokohama Teams' Trophy standings at the end of their debut season. Bamboo retained O'Young and Taniguchi for 2011, opening the season with the Chevrolet Lacetti before switching to the Chevrolet Cruze 1.6T from the Race of Belgium onward. O'Young took the Yokohama Drivers' Trophy in race two at Belgium, the team's only independent victory in 2011; they ended the year fifth in the Teams' Trophy.

For 2012 Bamboo agreed a deal with RML Group to run the same specification Chevrolet Cruze as the factory team, signing Alex MacDowall and Pasquale di Sabatino. MacDowall took his first WTCC independent victory at the Race of Austria. Di Sabatino was replaced by Michel Nykjær at the Race of Brazil after being ruled out by illness; Nykjær took independents pole and won race one. Robb Holland raced the second car at the Race of the United States. O'Young returned for Japan and the season finale in Macau, where he took two independents victories. MacDowall's season ended when he collided with the barriers at the Mandarin bend after being tapped by Yvan Muller.

In 2013 James Nash joined from Team Aon alongside MacDowall. Nash claimed the team's first overall WTCC victory at the Race of Austria, holding off Yvan Muller in the final laps from pole position. Nash added a second win at Portugal, also from pole. MacDowall took victories in the United States and Japan, where he also finished second overall. Nash sealed the Independent Drivers' title at the Macau finale and finished 3rd in the World Championship. Nash and MacDowall shared 12 independent race wins between them. Bamboo finished the 2013 season as a dominant independent force, though the team had previously finished third in the WTCC drivers championship in 2013.

After the 2014 sabbatical in the World Endurance Championship, Bamboo returned to the WTCC in 2015 as Craft-Bamboo, with Grégoire Demoustier driving. He scored on debut in Argentina and came within 0.015 seconds of reverse-grid pole at Paul Ricard.

In 2013 Bamboo joined the GP3 Series as replacement for Atech CRS Grand Prix. Roberto La Rocca was the first driver signed, but following the death of Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez and the changing political situation in Venezuela, La Rocca was replaced by Carmen Jordá. British drivers Melville McKee and Lewis Williamson completed the lineup. McKee took the team's first GP3 victory in race 2 at the Nürburgring. At the end of the season the team was sold to Russian Time.

Richard Coleman was removed from the team in 2017 and was sued in 2020.
