BRC Racing Team is an Italian motorsport outfit based in Cherasco, Italy, that became one of the most successful teams in the FIA World Touring Car Cup by fielding Hyundai machinery. Founded in 2009, the team evolved from rally and alternative-energy racing into one of the foremost outfits in tin-top touring car competition, ultimately delivering a drivers' world championship under the Hyundai banner.

BRC Racing Team was established in 2009 and initially competed in the Spanish Endurance Championship with a Nissan 350Z. The team's identity and sponsorship ties derived from BRC Gas Equipment, a company associated with liquefied petroleum gas systems. Early activity spanned Spanish and Italian rally competitions, including the Suzuki Rally Trophy and Seat Léon Supercopa, before the team organised its own Green Scout / Hybrid Cup series, which later became the Italian Alternative Energies Championship from 2011 to 2015.

The team entered the Italian Rally Championship in 2014 and 2015 using LPG-converted Ford Fiesta R5 cars with Giandomenico Basso as lead driver. Over those two seasons the partnership registered two wins and thirteen podiums, with Basso finishing second in the championship both years. Basso continued with BRC in 2016, winning two rallies and four further podiums to claim the title, while teammate Simone Campedelli raced an LPG Fiesta R5 to fourth overall in the standings. For 2017 Basso and BRC Racing entered the Tour European Rally aboard a Hyundai i20 R5, marking the beginning of the team's association with the Hyundai marque.

BRC Racing Team became a partner of Hyundai Motorsport in the TCR International Series, assisting with the development of the Hyundai i30 N TCR and fielding examples in competition. The relationship deepened as the TCR concept grew in stature across Europe and internationally.

When the TCR International Series was rebranded as the FIA World Touring Car Cup in 2018, BRC assumed a central role within Hyundai's factory assault on the new championship. The team fielded two i30 N TCR cars, with drivers Norbert Michelisz and Gabriele Tarquini leading Hyundai's charge in what would prove to be an intensely competitive inaugural WTCR season.

The 2019 season brought the team's most significant reward when Norbert Michelisz claimed the WTCR Drivers' Championship, giving BRC Racing its second world-level title in touring cars — the first having come in earlier TCR competition. The achievement underlined the team's development work alongside Hyundai Motorsport and demonstrated that the i30 N TCR was capable of taking the fight to established rivals from across the globe.

BRC's period as Hyundai's lead WTCR operation placed the team at the centre of intense manufacturer battles that defined the championship's early years. The WTCR format, with events held across multiple continents, demanded engineering consistency and adaptability, areas where BRC's accumulated experience in different disciplines gave it a distinct edge.

BRC Racing Team's trajectory from a small Italian outfit experimenting with LPG rally cars to a world championship-winning touring car squad represents one of the more unusual paths in modern motorsport. The team's partnership with Hyundai Motorsport elevated both parties: BRC provided the operational infrastructure and European track knowledge, while Hyundai's engineering support and the competitive i30 N TCR platform furnished the raw materials for success. The Michelisz title in 2019 remains the defining achievement of this partnership and of the team's history to that point.
