Force joined the NHRA Top Fuel ranks in 2013, becoming the first John Force Racing driver to compete in the Top Fuel dragster class rather than Funny Car. She drove a Monster Energy-sponsored machine and worked to establish herself in a category dominated by long-experienced competitors.
In 2016, Force became the first woman to win the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals. That same year, on May 20, 2016, she set a new NHRA Top Fuel record with a pass of 3.676 seconds over 1,000 feet at Heartland Park in Topeka, Kansas. In 2017, Force claimed the Top Fuel championship — winning four events for the season, including three during the Countdown to the Championship — becoming only the second woman in NHRA history to win a Top Fuel title, after Shirley Muldowney in 1982. She clinched the title in the quarterfinals of the season's final event before going on to win that race outright.
In 2019, Force became the first female driver to qualify as the Number 1 qualifier in Top Fuel at the U.S. Nationals, one of the sport's most prestigious events.
Force claimed her second Top Fuel championship in 2022, capping the season with a series of record-breaking runs. On October 2, 2022, at the NHRA Midwest Nationals, she recorded the fastest Top Fuel pass in history at that time, running 338.17 mph. She closed the 2022 season having reset the speed record to 338.94 mph and the elapsed-time record to 3.623 seconds. By the conclusion of the 2022 season, she had accumulated 16 career NHRA wins.
Force's most prominent ongoing achievement is her ownership of the outright Top Fuel speed record. On July 20, 2025, at the NHRA Northwest Nationals in Kent, Washington, she broke her own record with a 341.59 mph pass. One week later, on July 28, 2025, she reset the record again to 343.16 mph — and the record was subsequently updated to 343.51 mph, the figure at which it stood heading into the end of the 2025 season.
On September 12, 2025, Force announced she would step away from competition at the end of the 2025 season. Josh Hart was named her replacement at John Force Racing.
Force attended California State University, Fullerton, where she earned a bachelor's degree in English and a teaching credential.
Brittany Force's career produced two NHRA Top Fuel championships, the all-time speed record, and a sustained series of barrier-breaking achievements for women in professional drag racing. Her progression from Shirley Muldowney's 1982 milestone — the first female Top Fuel champion — to her own two titles and record-holding runs reflects the evolution of women's participation at the highest level of NHRA competition. She is among the most decorated drivers, male or female, of her era in the Top Fuel class.
