Team Dynamics Motorsport was founded by Steve Neal and Ray Bellm in 1993, initially entering British Touring Car Championship competition as Rimstock Racing with Matt Neal at the wheel of a BMW. The Worcestershire-based team built its reputation across the 1990s as an independent privateer, racing Ford Mondeos and then Nissan Primeras before establishing itself as a consistent championship contender. The team's first outright race win as an independent came at the 1999 Donington Park season opener โ the first ever outright race win for an independent team in the modern BTCC era.
Team Dynamics formed a working relationship with Honda UK from 2004, initially running independently sourced Honda Civic Type-Rs purchased from the departing Honda works team under a Computeach Racing with Halfords banner. The team developed its own Honda Integra Type-R from road-going specification for 2005, and Matt Neal won the overall drivers' championship โ the first time an independent team had won the overall BTCC title. The team retained the championship in 2006 with Neal and new signing Gordon Shedden sharing duties.
From 2010, Honda UK formally backed Team Dynamics as its factory entry in the championship under the Honda Racing Team name, with Neal and Shedden as the driver pairing. The team won the manufacturers' and teams' championships in both 2010 and 2011, and Shedden added the drivers' title in 2011 as the team swept all available silverware.
The Halfords Yuasa Racing name came into full use from 2012 when battery manufacturer Yuasa joined Halfords as co-sponsors. Competing with the new Next Generation Touring Car specification Honda Civic โ the first manufacturer team to run an NGTC-spec car โ Shedden won the 2012 drivers' championship, with the team claiming the teams' title for a third consecutive year and Honda winning the manufacturers' crown.
Gordon Shedden added a second drivers' championship in 2015 and a third in 2016 under the Halfords Yuasa Racing banner, with Neal providing consistent support in the second car throughout the period. The team's Honda Civic NGTC Type R continued as its weapon of choice through successive regulation cycles.
For the 2021 season, Shedden returned to the team after a period away, partnered by Jack Sears Trophy winner Daniel Rowbottom, competing as Halfords Racing with Cataclean. Shedden and Rowbottom continued together in 2022.
In April 2023, Team Dynamics announced a hiatus from the BTCC due to difficulties securing commercial agreements with sponsors. The team entered a new partnership with EXCELR8 from 2024, with EXCELR8's BTCC Hyundai programme run from the Team Dynamics base in Droitwich and several Team Dynamics personnel joining the programme.

Team Dynamics, operating under successive Honda-backed commercial identities including Halfords Yuasa Racing, stands as one of British touring car racing's most decorated operations. Its transition from privateer underdog in the 1990s to multiple-championship factory Honda partner represents a sustained competitive achievement rare in the BTCC's history. The team's six drivers' titles and multiple manufacturers' crowns cemented its place among the defining organisations of the modern BTCC era.
