Iaconelli began single-seater racing in 2003 with a single appearance in Brazilian Formula Renault. In 2004 he contested a full Brazilian Formula Renault season with PropCar Racing, recording 14 starts, two wins, four podiums, one pole position, and 183 points to finish fourth in the championship. That year he also ran 17 rounds of the Formula 3 Sudamericana, taking three podiums and finishing fifth.
In 2005 he made his European debut across several series: two rounds of the Formula Renault 3.5 Series with Interwetten.com (without points), four rounds of the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 with JD Motorsport, four rounds of Italian Formula Renault 2.0, and six rounds of the Spanish Formula Three Championship with GTA Motor Competición, finishing twentieth.
In 2006 Iaconelli contested the Formula Renault 3.5 Series with three different teams — Eurointernational, Comtec Racing, and GD Racing — across twelve races, without scoring a championship point. He supplemented this with five rounds of the Spanish Formula Three Championship for Elide Racing, achieving one podium and finishing twelfth in the class.
For 2007, originally signed to Interwetten.com for FR3.5, he was replaced by a Russian driver approximately one month before the season opener. He secured a contract with Pons Racing within days and competed in all 17 rounds of the championship, scoring 13 points to finish 21st.
In 2008 Iaconelli also raced in the International Formula Master series with Pro Motorsport before making his GP2 Series debut mid-season with BCN Competición, contesting 13 rounds without scoring a classified championship point. He moved to the Durango team for the 2008–09 GP2 Asia Series but was replaced by Michael Dalle Stelle following the opening round.
For 2009 Iaconelli switched to the FIA Formula Two Championship, driving car number 17. He contested 14 rounds, finishing eleventh in the standings with 21 points. His best individual result was second place at the opening round at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, a finish he was unable to reach the final round at Circuit de Catalunya due to illness.
In 2010 Iaconelli returned to racing with the Durango team in the Auto GP series, contesting twelve rounds, winning three races, recording three additional podiums, and finishing seventh in the standings with 24 points.
From 2011 Iaconelli shifted to sportscar and North American racing. He made one appearance in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West and two rounds of the FIA GT3 European Championship with Scuderia Vittoria, as well as four rounds of the Blancpain Endurance Series where he scored a podium finish. In 2012 he made eight starts in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and one in the K&N Pro Series West before stepping away from professional competition.
