Claudiu David is a former Romanian rally driver. He has a degree in executive coaching and currently works as a mentor. He also has experience with Olympic athletes at the National Institute of Sport Research.

David was born on 7 December 1978, in Sinaia, Romania. His early involvement in motorsport began in the mid-1990s, competing in rallycross events between 1996 and 1997 using an Opel Rekord.

David entered the Romanian Rally Championship as a rookie in 2000, finishing the season as the vice-champion of the rookie challenge while driving an Opel Corsa GTI. Between 2001 and 2003, he participated in selected rounds of the national championship in Group H, utilizing both the Opel Corsa GTI and a Renault 5 GT Turbo. In 2003, he secured third place in the group H of the Romanian Rally Championship.

His first major titles arrived in 2004 and 2005, when he became the National Class Champion of the N 1.6 Trophy driving a VW Polo. During this period, he also achieved international success by winning the N2 class at the 2004 Waldviertel Rally in Austria, a round of the FIA European Championship.

In 2006, David moved into four-wheel-drive machinery for the first time, driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII. He secured two wins at Piatra Neamt and Brasov, ultimately finishing the season as runner-up in the Romanian Rally Championship, at 1 point behind the first place.

The 2007 season marked David's entry into the global stage. He was selected to race three rounds of the 2007 World Rally Championship (WRC) in the P-WRC category: Rally Argentina, Rally Japan and Rally GB. The car was a Group N Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX prepared by the Stohl Racing team from Austria and entered the OMV Bixxol Rally Team program for the promotion of young talents from Eastern Europe. At the end of the year, his main sponsor, the OMV Group, retired from motorsports, which left David without financial support.

David returned to the Romanian championship in 2008 with a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX. Despite a strong start—recording one victory at Cluj and two podiums at Brasov and Sibiu—he had to retire prematurely from the national championship due to the lack of sponsors.

In 2006, David was selected to drive in Rally Australia. However, he could not attend the event due to a Romanian Racing Federations conflict that left him without an international license.

In 2007, David competed in circuit racing in the first ever FIA-GT race organized in the streets of Bucharest. He won the manufacturer's Dodge cup. He drove a GT3 Dodge Viper Competition Coupe of 510 bhp (380 kW) and finished 8th overall in the GT3 category.

David expanded his international portfolio in 2009 and 2010. On 1 August 2009, David obtained a group N win on his first appearance in the Hungarian Rally Championship at the 42nd Allianz Rallye at Pecs. Driving the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX prepared by the local team Topp Cars, he won the gr N class by 0.9 seconds and was 4th overall.

In January 2010, David contested his first official rally in the USRC (United States Rally Championship) in the Winter Rally New York. After two days of racing in icy conditions, he won his category (2WD – 2-wheel drive) and finished 3rd overall, behind two 4WD cars.

In his final full national season in 2006, he proved his consistency by coming within a single point of the overall Romanian title.

Following his retirement from active competition, David utilized his experience to pursue a career in mentorship and training. He has a degree in executive coaching and worked with Olympic athletes at the National Institute of Sport Research. In 2011, David became one of the five BMW "Train the Trainers" with the BMW Driving Academy in Maisach, Germany. He has coached passenger car training instructors and worked on the design and delivery of the BMW Group Driving Experiences' training.
