Pratama began his racing career in 2010 in the Indonesian Racing Series (IRS) Supersport 600cc class. He finished fourth in his debut season, fifth in 2011, and was runner-up nationally in 2012. That same year he moved into full-time competition in the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) Supersport 600cc class with Astra Honda Racing Team, earning Best Rookie of the Year honours in his first season after finishing sixth overall. He continued in the ARRC through 2016, achieving a career-best fifth overall in 2015, and won the race at the 2017 Indonesian Round at Sentul on a wildcard.
Pratama won the 2013 Suzuka 4 Hours alongside fellow Indonesian Iswandi Muis, both riding a Honda CBR600RR for Astra Honda Racing Team. He went on to race in the Suzuka 8 Hours between 2014 and 2017. In 2014, he shared the Honda CBR1000RR with Australian Joshua Hook and Malaysian Mohamad Zamri Baba, finishing seventh overall. Subsequent years saw various lineup changes with Malaysian and Thai teammates, recording 18th place in 2015 and 8th in both 2016 and 2017.
From 2015 to 2018, Pratama competed in the FIM CEV Moto2 European Championship with Astra Honda Racing Team. His best overall result was fifth in the 2018 season standings. He recorded two podium finishes: a third place in the Catalunya Race 1 in 2017, and a third place at the Albacete round's Race 1 in 2018.
Pratama made his Grand Prix debut as a wildcard at the 2017 Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang, where he was involved in a crash and did not finish. A year later at the same circuit, he was called up by Tech 3 to replace injured Bo Bendsneyder, completing the race in 23rd position. He also competed as a wildcard at the 2018 Catalan Grand Prix, finishing 24th.
He secured a full-season contract for the 2019 Moto2 season with IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia, managed by Hiroshi Aoyama. The campaign was disrupted by injury: a crash at the Spanish Grand Prix โ where he was run over by another rider after falling โ and a heavy crash during Free Practice 1 at Assen that caused concussion and ruled him unfit to race. He missed four rounds and was replaced at various points by Teppei Nagoe, Andi Farid Izdihar, and Gerry Salim. He returned to competition at Buriram and achieved his season best of 18th at Sepang. His contract was not renewed and he was replaced by Izdihar for 2020.
After a year without a ride, Pratama was approached by Mandalika Racing Team, a project led by Kemal Nasution with backing from People's Representative Council of Indonesia member Rapsel Ali, aimed at contesting the 2021 Moto2 season. However, Dorna Sports, the FIM, and IRTA advised the project to compete first in CEV Moto2. Pratama served as reserve rider for the team, which ultimately signed Bo Bendsneyder for the Moto2 seat. He was given a wildcard entry at the 2021 Valencian Grand Prix but crashed on lap 14. He also raced in 2021 CEV Moto2 with SAG Racing.
In subsequent years, Pratama returned to domestic and regional competition with MS Glow for Men Racing Team, competing in the Mandalika Racing Series and as a wildcard in the ARRC Supersport 600cc class, securing a full-time ride in the ARRC for 2026.
Pratama is married with two children. He has been endorsed by HJC Helmets since 2021, having previously been associated with KYT throughout his earlier career.
