Dion Gowda (born 30 November 2007) is an Indian racing driver who competes internationally under the British flag, having progressed from karting in Bangalore to the Formula Regional European Championship with Van Amersfoort Racing. His rapid ascent through Formula 4 β€” highlighted by four wins and a fourth-place finish in the 2023 F4 British Championship β€” established him as one of the more promising young talents from South Asia in European junior motorsport.

Gowda was born and raised in Bangalore, India. He took up karting at the age of eight, beginning his competitive career in 2015 before making his way into European karting events from 2018 onward.

Gowda started European karting competition in 2018 with the WSK Final Cup, racing in the 60 Mini category and finishing 37th. He continued in the same class in 2019 and recorded a seventh-place finish in the South Garda Winter Cup before stepping up to OKJ karting later that year.

His 2020 OKJ season included an eighth-place result in the WSK Champions Cup. In 2021, competing in both the OKJ category and the Karting Academy Trophy, Gowda achieved a career-high fifth in the Karting Academy Trophy standings after taking his first podium in the series at Wackersdorf. For 2022 he graduated to OK karting, though the year proved difficult with a best championship placing of 29th in the WSK Super Master Series.

Gowda made his single-seater debut in the 2023 Formula 4 UAE Championship, driving for Carlin. It was a challenging introduction to car racing, though he scored points on two occasions and finished 25th overall.

He then joined Rodin Carlin for a full campaign in the 2023 F4 British Championship, and the results were markedly better. Gowda took four wins and six podiums during the season, amassing 226 points and finishing fourth in the championship β€” a strong showing for a driver in his first full British F4 campaign.

Gowda returned to the F4 British Championship for 2024 with Mumbai Falcons and delivered a more consistent season, adding a podium to his tally over fifteen races and finishing 11th with 65 points.

Concurrently, Prema Racing signed him for the Italian F4 Championship and Euro 4 series. He showed early promise with two podiums at Imola but encountered inconsistency through the rest of the Italian campaign, ultimately finishing 11th. His Euro 4 campaign yielded a 14th-place finish.

Gowda stepped up to the Formula Regional European Championship for 2025, joining Van Amersfoort Racing. Alongside his main campaign, he also competed in the GB3 Championship that year with Xcel Motorsport.

For 2026, Gowda began the season in the Formula Regional Middle East Trophy with Van Amersfoort before continuing with the team in the European championship.

Gowda represents a wave of Indian junior drivers seeking to build careers in European single-seater racing. His 2023 F4 British season β€” four wins and a fourth-place championship finish with Rodin Carlin β€” provided the clearest early evidence of his potential, and his move to Formula Regional with Van Amersfoort placed him on a recognised pathway toward higher-tier competition.
