Bernstorff began karting in 2003 and competed primarily in the United Kingdom throughout his junior career. He progressed steadily through the national kart ladder, reaching the KF2 category by 2009 when he finished eighth in the Spanish KF2 championship.
Bernstorff made his car racing debut in the 2010 British Formula Ford Championship with Jamun Racing. He finished seventh in the standings and recorded three podiums in his debut season.
In 2011 he moved to Germany for the ADAC Formel Masters with Motopark Academy. The series was regarded as one of the strongest pathways below Formula Three in Europe and produced several future world-championship drivers. Bernstorff won five races and stood on the podium thirteen times from twenty-four starts, ultimately finishing as championship runner-up. The result brought him significant attention as one of the top young German-based talents of his generation.
He stepped up to the FIA European Formula Three Championship in 2012 with ma-con Motorsport, finishing tenth overall in a highly competitive field and taking a podium at the Norisring.
In 2013 Bernstorff contested the German Formula Three Championship again with Motopark, which ran under the Lotus name that season. He finished third in the standings with five wins and thirteen podiums. He also competed at the Masters of Formula 3 at Zandvoort with Prema Powerteam, finishing third in that prestigious non-championship event.
Bernstorff joined the GP3 Series in 2014 with Carlin, finishing fifth in the standings and taking one victory across the season. He remained in GP3 for 2015, moving to Arden International, and produced his strongest campaign at that level: two victories at Spa-Francorchamps and Monza, seven podiums in total, and a final classification of fourth in the standings. The 2015 season established him as a consistent front-runner in the feeder series directly below Formula 2.
His only GP2 Series appearances came in 2016 with Arden International at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. He finished 17th in the sprint race and 15th in the feature race, scoring no championship points. It proved to be his final outing in professional single-seater competition.
After stepping back from professional racing, Bernstorff transitioned into sim-racing content creation. He began streaming iRacing on Twitch in July 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, building an audience among motorsport fans drawn to broadcast-quality simulation content. He expanded to YouTube in 2022 and has continued producing iRacing content on both platforms, applying his background in real-world single-seaters to commentary and analysis of the virtual racing discipline.
