Spataro began racing in karting in 1992 and 1993 before stepping into single-seater competition. In 1994 he contested Fórmula Honda Argentina, and in 1995 he won the Formula Three Sudamericana Light championship, which opened the door to European competition. In 1996 he raced in the Italian Super Formula series and recorded a race victory.
His international ambitions brought him to International Formula 3000 in 1997, one of the principal feeder series to Formula One. Simultaneously he competed in the South American Super Touring Car Championship in a BMW 320i. In 1998 he drove an Alfa Romeo 155 in the same series, and in 1999 he won the South American Super Touring Car Championship driving a Peugeot 406 alongside Cacá Bueno.
From 2000 Spataro became a fixture in TC2000, Argentina's top touring car series. He drove for Peugeot Sport in the early 2000s in a Peugeot 306, then moved through a succession of manufacturer programmes. With TC2000 Sportteam he drove a Volkswagen Bora from 2004 through 2006, finishing ninth in the 2006 standings. A move to Renault in 2007 produced a sixth-place result in a Renault Mégane, and he concluded the decade with TC2000 Fiat, driving a Fiat Linea in 2009 and 2010 with a best championship finish of fourth in 2010.
Running alongside his TC2000 seasons, Spataro competed regularly in Turismo Carretera, Argentina's oldest and most iconic racing series. He entered from 2002 onward and competed across multiple seasons under various sponsorship banners, primarily in Chevrolet machinery, remaining active through 2010.
Spataro's most concentrated spell of domestic success came in the TRV6 Oro category of Top Race. He won the TRV6 Oro championship in both 2007 and 2008, back-to-back titles that placed him among the top performers in that division. In 2009 he continued in TRV6 Midas, the adjacent category, before concluding his Top Race involvement.
In 2010 Spataro expanded his competitive portfolio by entering the Dakar Rally. The event had relocated from Africa to South America beginning with the 2009 edition, and his entry demonstrated his willingness to pursue endurance rally-raid competition alongside his circuit racing commitments.
Spataro's career reflects the breadth of Argentine motorsport's domestic competition structure. His 1999 South American Super Touring championship, two consecutive TRV6 Oro titles, and sustained presence in TC2000 and Turismo Carretera over more than a decade mark him as a resilient and versatile competitor. His early steps in European Formula 3000 and international touring car racing gave him exposure beyond South America's borders, though the rich domestic calendar ultimately drew him back for the bulk of his career.
