Kenneth Hansen, a 14-time European Rallycross Champion, established the team in 1990. Hansen Motorsport used Citroen cars exclusively from 1993 before switching to Peugeot in 2014 when the team became Peugeot's official factory partner in the newly formed FIA World Rallycross Championship. The team competed as Team Peugeot-Hansen from the championship's inaugural 2014 season through 2017.
In December 2017, Peugeot Sport announced it would take direct control of its factory World RX entry through a new entity, Team Peugeot Total, absorbing the factory programme from Hansen Motorsport. Kenneth Hansen remained involved as sporting director with the new structure. Hansen Motorsport continued to operate its own programme and junior development initiative alongside.
Kenneth Timmy Hansen (born 21 May 1992) is the elder son of founder Kenneth Hansen and his wife Susann Hansen โ herself the 1994 ERA European Cup winner in the Group N up to 1400cc class. Timmy initially pursued single-seater racing after winning the Swedish karting championship in 2008, competing in Formula BMW Europe and Formula Renault 2.0 against future Formula One drivers including Carlos Sainz Jr. and Daniil Kvyat, and winning races in both series.
By 2013 Timmy had committed to rallycross, finishing third in the European Rallycross Championship in that year. He has competed in the FIA World Rallycross Championship since its inaugural season in 2014 and won the 2019 FIA World Rallycross Championship driving for Team Peugeot-Hansen.
Mikael Kevin Hansen (born 28 May 1998) is the younger son of Kenneth Hansen and Susann Hansen, and the brother of Timmy. He became the youngest FIA European Rallycross Champion in history, taking the Supercar title on debut in 2016 at the age of 18 โ winning four of five rounds that season and earning the FIA Rookie of the Year award, an accolade previously won by Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc. Kevin made his World RX debut in late 2015 at 17 years and 6 months old, the youngest driver to start a World RX event.
Across 48 World RX rounds, his most successful season was 2023, when he finished second in the championship and won the inaugural World RX of Hong Kong event. He also competed in Extreme E for Veloce Racing alongside Molly Taylor.
In September 2025, Hansen Motorsport entered the FIA Extreme H World Cup โ a hydrogen fuel cell off-road racing series โ as Team Hansen. Andreas Bakkerud and Catie Munnings were named as the driving pair, with Timmy Hansen serving as team principal. Munnings and Timmy had previously raced together for Andretti in Extreme E, Extreme H's preceding series.
Alongside its senior operations, Hansen Motorsport has maintained a structured junior driver development programme branded as the YellowSquad, supporting young rallycross talent up through the categories.
