Returning to the United States in 2007, he drove in the Atlantic Championship for Forsythe Championship Racing, recording a second-place finish at Toronto.

In 2012 he returned with Stevenson, achieving four pole positions in GT despite missing the season opener due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained off-track. He and Robin Liddell won at Watkins Glen and Lime Rock in the GT class, with an additional win at Laguna Seca in GS alongside Bell.

Edwards and Lucas Luhr drove together for BMW in 2015 and 2016, winning at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and earning podiums at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park and Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. The 2016 season proved more difficult as development of the new BMW M6 continued.
For 2017, Edwards was paired with DTM champion Martin Tomczyk, with Kuno Wittmer and Nicky Catsburg joining for endurance events. Edwards and Tomczyk took victory at Laguna Seca in 2018.
From 2018, Edwards was paired with Finnish BMW works driver Jesse Krohn as his primary co-driver, campaigning the new BMW M8 GTE. The pair competed together through 2019, joined by Alex Zanardi and Colton Herta for the 2019 Daytona endurance opener. Highlights in this period included podiums and pole positions in the IMSA series.
In 2023, Edwards took on a developmental customer-focused role, pairing with Samantha Tan of ST Racing in the Pro-Am class of the GT World Challenge America as BMW's delegated factory driver. He described appreciating the advisory and developmental aspects of the role alongside competing.
