Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Grala grew up in the suburb of Westborough. His father, Darius Grala, is a former sports car racer who competed in the 24 Hours of Daytona three times. Grala is of Polish ancestry. He began racing go-karts at F1 Boston in Braintree, Massachusetts, at the age of four.
Grala transitioned to Bandoleros at age ten, winning the Summer Shootout Championship in 2011, as well as the New York Legendstock and Massachusetts Bandolero Outlaws state championships that same year. In 2012, he won 15 races and the Winter Heat Championship at Charlotte in the Legend Car Pro Division. In 2013, Grala made his late model debut in UARA-STARS, becoming the youngest winner in series history at Hickory Motor Speedway. He also finished second in the Myrtle Beach 400, having led laps in the race.
In 2016, Grala made his NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series debut at Martinsville for GMS Racing, driving the No. 33 Chevrolet, and secured his first career top-ten finish at Dover International Speedway. He ran seven more races that year in the No. 24 truck. The following year, in 2017, Grala ran the full Truck Series season for GMS in the No. 33 Chevrolet. He won his first race at Daytona International Speedway after starting on the pole, becoming the youngest driver to win a NASCAR pole and a NASCAR race at Daytona. Despite an early crash in the cutoff race at Talladega Superspeedway, Grala finished seventh in the Truck Series standings.
In 2018, Grala joined JGL Racing full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, finishing fourth in his debut at Daytona. After the No. 24 program shut down mid-season, he continued to compete in Xfinity with Fury Race Cars, achieving a top-five finish at Daytona in a ten-year-old borrowed car. He ran part-time with Richard Childress Racing in 2019 and 2020, tying his career-best fourth-place finish at Road America in 2020.
In August 2020, Grala substituted for Austin Dillon in the No. 3 NASCAR Cup Series car at the Daytona road course after Dillon tested positive for COVID-19, finishing seventh in his Cup debut. At the 2021 Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona, Grala suffered a foot injury in a race accident. In the 2022 Daytona 500, while driving for The Money Team Racing, Grala lost a right rear wheel and tire on lap forty, ultimately finishing 26th.
In 2014, Grala competed in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, becoming the youngest driver ever to compete in an International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) event at fifteen years and one week old. He also participated in the 2016 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona for Change Racing. On July 2, 2022, Grala won the Trans-Am Series TA/GT race at Road America, driving a Dodge Challenger, after securing a pole position and track record in the previous race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
In 2023, Grala competed full-time in the Xfinity Series for Sam Hunt Racing, driving the No. 26 Toyota GR Supra. In 2024, he ran 25 races for Rick Ware Racing in the Cup Series, driving the No. 15 Ford Mustang Dark Horse, and also competed in the Daytona 500 for Front Row Motorsports. As of February 15, 2025, Grala joined Legacy Motor Club as their reserve and simulator driver, while continuing to compete part-time for Sam Hunt Racing and Our Motorsports.
