Kosmic Racing Department

section:team
Kosmic Racing Department is the factory-backed karting team operating under the Kosmic brand, one of the chassis lines produced by OTK Kart Group (Original Tony Kart), a go-kart manufacturer based in Prevalle, Lombardy, Italy. OTK established the Kosmic brand in 1996 as part of an expansion beyond its original Tony Kart marque, and the brand has subsequently accumulated five CIK-FIA World Championships.

OTK Kart Group S.r.l. was founded in 1958 by Antonio "Tony" Bosio in Prevalle, Lombardy. Across its history OTK has grown into the second-most successful chassis manufacturer in the history of the CIK-FIA World Championship, behind CRG, with a total of 35 World Championship titles won through its various brands between 1986 and 2023.

The Kosmic chassis line was established in 1996, part of OTK's mid-1990s expansion that also included the founding of Vortex Engines in 1995 as the group's dedicated engine division. OTK operates a 17,000-square-metre factory in Prevalle where all its chassis and engines across brands are produced. Testing regularly takes place at South Garda Karting in nearby Lonato del Garda.

Of OTK's 35 CIK-FIA World Championship titles, five have been won on Kosmic chassis. This places Kosmic as one of the productive arms of the OTK portfolio alongside the flagship Tony Kart brand, which accounts for 23 titles, FA Kart with four, and Exprit with three. The victories under the Kosmic banner have come across various classes and generations of the World Championship.

Across all its brands, OTK has also accumulated 14 CIK-FIA World Cups, three CIK-FIA International Super Cups, and 44 CIK-FIA European Championships. Notable champions associated with OTK machinery across its brands include multiple-time World Champions Davide Forè and Marco Ardigò, as well as Formula One drivers Jarno Trulli, Lando Norris, and Logan Sargeant.

In 2022, a 70% stake in OTK was acquired by QCapital and BIC Capital with support from Crédit Agricole Italia, while the founding Robazzi family retained a 30% stake and strategic control. By 2023, OTK was generating over 90% of its sales outside Italy, operating subsidiaries in the United States, Japan, and Singapore and utilising more than 130 distributors across 70 countries, with revenues of approximately €45 million.

The Kosmic Racing Department operates within this international commercial structure as the factory team for the Kosmic chassis brand, supported by Vortex engines, which are built by OTK's Vortex Engines division. In 2025, OTK merged with TM Kart, an engine manufacturer holding 19 World Championships, further expanding its powertrain portfolio.

Kosmic exists within a multi-brand group that has broadened its partnerships through collaborations with high-profile motorsport figures. OTK launched FA Kart with Fernando Alonso from 2009 to 2020, established LN Kart with Lando Norris in 2021, and created CS55 Racing with Carlos Sainz Jr. in 2024. The group acquired Gillard in 2020, adding the only British brand to have won a non-superkart World Championship, and also established the EOS Racing Kart brand. In 2023, OTK acquired Vega Tyres, which produces over one million tyres annually and holds approximately 40% of the competitive tyre market, further integrating the group's position across the karting supply chain.

The Kosmic Racing Department continues to campaign at the highest level of international karting competition as one of the active factory-backed expressions of the OTK group's technical capabilities.
