The original Lamborghini Huracán GT3 was introduced in 2015, developed in collaboration with Dallara using the Huracán's 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine. It proved immediately competitive, winning on its debut in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup at Monza with Grasser Racing Team. The GT3 went on to win multiple championships over its four-year production run, including the 2017 Blancpain GT Series title and — most significantly — the 2018 24 Hours of Daytona GTD class with the No. 11 Grasser Racing car driven by factory drivers, becoming the first time Lamborghini had won a 24-hour race in its history.
The Huracán GT3 Evo arrived for the 2019 season with an upgraded powertrain and refined aerodynamics. The 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 was developed to produce 433 kW (580 hp; 588 PS) and 488 N·m (360 lb·ft) of torque, representing a meaningful increase over the original GT3's 388 kW (520 hp; 527 PS). Kerb weight was reduced slightly to 1,229.4 kg (2,710 lb) compared to the original's 1,230 kg.
The Huracán GT3 Evo debuted in competition at the 2019 24 Hours of Daytona, winning the GTD class for a second consecutive year with Grasser Racing Team. The #11 car was driven by Mirko Bortolotti, Rik Breukers, Christian Engelhart, and Rolf Ineichen. The same car repeated the achievement at the 2019 12 Hours of Sebring, winning the GTD class, while a second Huracán GT3 Evo from Magnus Racing finished second.
In the 2019 Blancpain GT Series, FFF Racing Team won the overall championship with support from Lamborghini Squadra Corse, with drivers Andrea Caldarelli and Marco Mapelli securing Lamborghini's second overall title in the series in three seasons.
Paul Miller Racing's #48 Huracán GT3 Evo took victory at Laguna Seca in the 2019 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship's eleventh round.
Lamborghini unveiled the Huracán GT3 Evo 2 in 2022 as the next evolution of the customer racing program. The Evo 2 took styling cues from the Huracán STO road car and featured a new intake system and revised aerodynamic package. Existing Evo owners could purchase an upgrade kit to bring their cars to Evo 2 specification rather than requiring a full chassis replacement.
The Evo 2 made its competition debut at the 2023 24 Hours of Daytona, where the Iron Lynx entry finished fourth in the GTD Pro class. In the 2023 DTM season, factory driver Mirko Bortolotti drove for SSR Performance and narrowly missed the championship, finishing second despite securing five victories — Lamborghini's most successful DTM season since entering the series in 2021. Lamborghini's DTM presence grew from one team running two cars to five cars across two teams during 2023.
Bortolotti went on to win the 2024 DTM championship driving the Huracán GT3 Evo 2 for SSR Performance, becoming the first Italian driver to win the DTM title since Nicola Larini in 1994 with Alfa Romeo.
The Evo 2 participated in Lamborghini's debut season in the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship LMGT3 category, with entries from Iron Lynx and the all-female Iron Dames team. The Iron Lynx #19 secured a podium finish in class at Spa, while the Iron Dames achieved two pole positions including a fourth-place LMGT3 finish at the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans.
At the 2024 24 Hours of Spa, Grasser Racing Team factory driver Franck Perera set a new all-time GT3 lap record for Spa-Francorchamps during Superpole, clocking 2:13.718. On June 29, 2025, Grasser Racing Team achieved Lamborghini's first-ever outright victory at the 24 Hours of Spa with the Huracán GT3 Evo 2, making Lamborghini the twentieth different manufacturer to win the race.
The Huracán GT3 Evo represented a significant step in Lamborghini's transition from a manufacturer with limited racing success to a credible and consistent factory GT racing contender. The 2018 and 2019 Daytona GTD victories, achieved in consecutive years, and the broader Blancpain championship results established Lamborghini as a regular contender at the highest levels of customer GT racing. The program's continuation through the Evo 2 generation and into the WEC LMGT3 class has extended that trajectory into the mid-2020s.
