Larbre Compétition was established in 1988 by racing driver Jack Leconte. The team is based at the Circuit du Val de Vienne in Le Vigeant, France.
Larbre Compétition achieved early success in the Championnat de France FFSA GT, winning the title in 1997 with a Porsche GT2. The team continued to compete in GT racing, expanding into international series. In 2000, they won the N-GT class team championship in the FIA GT Championship with a Porsche 911 GT3-R. The following year, Larbre secured overall victory at the Spa 24 Hours with a Chrysler Viper GTS-R, and also claimed the GT class team championship in the FIA GT Championship.
Larbre Compétition continued its success in the FIA GT Championship, winning the GT class team championship again in 2002 with a Chrysler Viper GTS-R. They also repeated their Spa 24 Hours victory that same year with the same car. In 2003, the team won the Champion de France FFSA GT with a Chrysler Viper. The team achieved further success in the Le Mans Series, winning the LMGTS class team championship in 2004 with a Ferrari 550-GTS Maranello, and the LMGT1 class team championship in 2006 with an Aston Martin DBR9.
In 2008, Larbre chose to use Saleen S7-Rs for both the Le Mans Series and the FFSA GT Championship. The team continued with the Saleen in the 2009 Le Mans Series, but were denied an entry for the 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans by the ACO. 2010 proved to be a successful year, with Larbre winning the LMGT1 class in both the Le Mans Series and the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup with the aging Saleen S7-R, culminating in a class win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
In 2009, the team was denied an entry to the 24 Hours of Le Mans by the ACO despite competing in the Le Mans Series. This decision did not deter the team, as they returned in 2010 to secure a class victory. The transition to the new GTE class in 2011, following the axing of GT1, saw Larbre switch to a Chevrolet Corvette C6.R. This proved successful, as the team won the GTE-Am category at the 2011 24 Hours of Le Mans and the ILMC GTE-AM championship, becoming the first team to win a professional championship with a GT2-spec Corvette C6.R.
Larbre Compétition competed in the European Le Mans Series in 2014, entering a Morgan LMP2 at the 4 Hours of Silverstone) with drivers Keiko Ihara and Gustavo Yacamán, and adding Ricky Taylor for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 2019, the team participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LMP2 class, finishing 12th in class. More recently, in 2022, Larbre Compétition took part in the Gulf Historic Dubai GP Revival.
Larbre Compétition has accumulated numerous championship titles, including wins in the FIA GT Championship (2000, 2001, 2002), the Le Mans Series (2004, 2006, 2010), and the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup (2010, 2011). They have also secured multiple victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in various classes, and the Spa 24 Hours in 2001 and 2002.
