Matteo De Palo (born 8 November 2007, Rome) is an Italian racing driver and member of the McLaren Driver Development Programme, announced in November 2025. He finished runner-up in the 2025 Formula Regional European Championship with Trident — losing the title to Freddie Slater at the final round in Monza by four points — and stepped up to the FIA Formula 3 Championship with the same team for 2026.

De Palo began karting in 2016, competing in WSK series events from the 60 Mini category through to the OKJ class by 2019. In July 2022 he attended a scouting camp conducted by the Ferrari Driver Academy. He began his car racing career in 2023.

De Palo made his car racing debut mid-season in the 2023 Formula Winter Series with Campos Racing, joining from the second round at Circuit Ricardo Tormo. He won the first race on debut and took both pole positions for that round, finishing the series sixth overall with 37 points across two rounds.

For the full 2023 season, De Palo contested the F4 Spanish Championship with Campos Racing. His sole win of the campaign came at the first round in Spa-Francorchamps, where he was elevated to the result after the original winner Valerio Rinicella received a track-limits penalty. A further podium came at Aragón, where he finished third from pole. He scored four podiums in total and placed fifth in the standings with 171 points across 21 races. He also made cameo appearances in the Italian F4 Championship with R-ace GP at Imola (one round, 20th) and in the British F4 Championship with Phinsys by Argenti (two rounds, 25th).

For 2024 De Palo moved to Formula Regional Europe with Saintéloc Racing, also participating in the pre-season Formula Regional Middle East Championship rounds with the same team (18th, 8 points). His best FREC result that year was a fourth place at the Red Bull Ring. He scored six points finishes across 20 races to finish 17th in the championship with 29 points. He also entered the 2024 Macau Grand Prix with PHM Racing but was disqualified from his fifth-place finish due to a car infringement.

The 2025 FREC season with Trident was a sustained championship campaign. De Palo opened with a win at Misano — the first for both him and Trident in the series — and then a podium in race two. He seized the championship lead at Spa with a second place and reclaimed it again at the Hungaroring with his first series pole and a second victory. Further wins came at the Red Bull Ring and Barcelona. Going into the final Monza round he trailed Slater by four points; an incident in the opening race forced a pit stop and dropped him outside the points, and though he recovered to second in the final race, he ended the season runner-up with four wins, three pole positions, eleven podiums, and 277 points.

He returned to Macau in 2025 with R-ace GP, finishing eighth.

De Palo was promoted to the FIA Formula 3 Championship for 2026, remaining with Trident alongside his 2025 FREC title rival Freddie Slater. His McLaren DDP membership was announced in November 2025.
