Michael Jordan's 23XI Racing (NASCAR)

section:concept
Michael Jordan's 23XI Racing, formed in 2021, fields three full-time NASCAR Cup Series entries: the No. 23 Toyota Camry for Bubba Wallace, No. 35 Camry for Riley Herbst, and No. 45 Camry for Tyler Reddick, with a technical alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing.

Bubba Wallace, driving the No. 23, scored 23XI Racing's first win at the 2021 YellaWood 500 at Talladega, becoming the second Black driver to win a Cup race. Tyler Reddick, in the No. 45, won races at Talladega and Michigan in 2024. Wallace finished second at the 2022 Daytona 500.

23XI Racing was founded by Michael Jordan, a Hall of Fame basketball player, and Denny Hamlin, a three-time Daytona 500 winner. The team's name combines Jordan's basketball number 23 and Hamlin's Cup series number 11.

Bubba Wallace joined 23XI Racing in 2021, purchasing a charter from Germain Racing. The team runs Toyotas with a technical alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing. Wallace had a strong run at Phoenix, finishing in the top ten.

Wallace had a strong 2022 season, posting four consecutive top-10s at New Hampshire, Pocono, Indianapolis road course, and Michigan. Reddick joined the team in 2023 and won at COTA in triple overtime.

Wallace was involved in a last-lap crash at the 2021 Daytona 500, finishing 17th. He won at Talladega in 2021, becoming the second Black driver to win a Cup race. Wallace was suspended for one race following an incident at Las Vegas, with John Hunter Nemechek substituting at Homestead. Reddick won at Talladega in 2024, overtaking Brad Keselowski on the final stretch. Wallace was fined $50,000 for intentionally door-slamming Alex Bowman during the cool-down lap after the Chicago street race. Following the Martinsville playoff race, the No. 23 was docked fifty owner and driver points and Wallace and the team were each fined $100,000 for race manipulation, when Wallace faked a tire failure and slowed down to allow fellow Toyota driver Christopher Bell to pass him in an attempt to make the Championship 4. Barker was suspended for the Phoenix finale.

The team fields the No. 67 Camry part-time, with Corey Heim driving in select races.
