Goikhberg's introduction to motorsport came in 2003 at Nevskoye Kolzo (the Neva Ring) in Russia, where he drove a Lada Cup Car under the guidance of experienced Russian driver Aleksandr Lvov. After relocating to Canada, he competed in regional karting before enrolling at the Skip Barber Racing School in 2008.
In 2009, Goikhberg entered the Ontario Formula Ford series with Brian Graham Racing, finishing fifth overall and second among rookies. The following year he joined JDC MotorSports — the beginning of a defining career-long relationship — competing in USF2000 and claiming third in the standings with a victory at Laguna Seca. A limited 2011 campaign in the Star Mazda Championship followed, restricted to rounds at Mosport and Sonoma due to sponsorship constraints.
In 2019, Goikhberg returned briefly to SCCA open-wheel competition with Rice Race Prep at the SCCA June Sprints, entering both a Formula Ford and a Formula Continental. He won two races in the Formula Continental and one in the Formula F class.
In 2012, Goikhberg and JDC MotorSports made the move to sportscar racing with a full season in the IMSA Prototype Lites Championship. He won two rounds and finished second overall in 2012, improved to third overall in 2013, and then claimed the championship in 2014 in dominant fashion — winning nine rounds, including six pole positions. The title earned him the $100,000 Mazda Road to the 24 scholarship, which funded his step up to the Tudor United SportsCar Championship.
Goikhberg's 2015 rookie campaign in the Tudor United SportsCar Championship with JDC-Miller MotorSports was challenging, though he collected three podiums at Daytona, Detroit, and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, ultimately finishing fourth in the Prototype Challenge driver standings.
In 2016, partnered with Stephen Simpson, Goikhberg scored two victories in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship's Prototype Challenge category: the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona and the Long Beach Grand Prix. He ended the season third in the driver standings and earned promotion to the full Prototype class for 2017.
In 2018, Goikhberg and Simpson swapped car assignments; Goikhberg piloted the returning No. 99 "Red Dragon" Oreca 07, backed by GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing as JDC-Miller expanded to a two-car effort. The season's highlight came at the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen, where Goikhberg and Simpson claimed victory — the first Prototype-class win in JDC-Miller MotorSports history.
For 2019, Goikhberg moved to the No. 85 entry alongside new teammate Tristan Vautier. The team transitioned to a Cadillac DPi-V.R, placing Goikhberg in the premier DPi class of North American prototype racing for the first time.
In 2020, Goikhberg shifted to the GT Daytona (GTD) category, joining Álvaro Parente for a full season in the No. 57 Acura NSX GT3 Evo with Heinricher Racing with Meyer Shank. For the four Michelin Endurance Cup rounds, Trent Hindman joined as a third driver, with A.J. Allmendinger also on the entry list for the 24 Hours of Daytona.
Goikhberg's career arc — from regional karting and modest Formula Ford beginnings to prototype class victories and the top tier of North American sportscar competition — reflects both personal perseverance and the institutional strength of his long-running partnership with JDC-Miller MotorSports.
