Percat won the 2009 Australian Formula Ford Championship in his third season in the category, having finished runner-up the previous year. In 2011, he contested a one-off support race for the Indian Grand Prix at the Buddh International Circuit, taking pole position and winning the first race โ the first ever motor race held at the circuit โ before being taken out in race two by eventual winner Jordan King.
On 9 October 2011, in what was his debut Bathurst 1000 start, Percat partnered Garth Tander to victory for the Holden Racing Team. The win made him the first South Australian to win the Bathurst 1000.
Percat raced part-time and in endurance roles before joining Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport for the 2015 season. Despite a modest campaign โ best finish sixth at the Gold Coast 600 โ he showed pace that carried into 2016. The opening round that year produced a shock win at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide in chaotic circumstances, the first win for Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport and the first at the Adelaide street circuit by a South Australian driver. He also scored a podium at the 2016 Bathurst 1000 with co-driver Cameron McConville, one of three podium finishes from his eight Bathurst starts.
Percat moved to Brad Jones Racing in 2017. Progress was gradual: a first BJR podium came at Darwin in 2017, and results steadily improved as the team developed. His 2018 season produced two podiums at the Formula One Australian Grand Prix event. In 2019 he finished ninth in the championship โ consistent without a podium. His best full-season championship result came in 2020, when he finished seventh, backed by two race wins at the Sydney SuperSprint round and a further podium in Darwin.
After five seasons with Brad Jones Racing, Percat returned to Walkinshaw Andretti United for 2022 on a multi-year deal. The team's transition to Ford Mustangs for 2023 proved difficult, and Percat's contract was not renewed, with the parting announced in August 2023. He subsequently moved to a co-driver role with Triple Eight Race Engineering in the No. 88 Ford Mustang GT.
Percat announced his retirement from racing on 7 October 2025 at the conclusion of the 2025 season.
Percat's career arc โ Bathurst winner on debut, then a decade-long journey to establish himself as a consistent Supercars frontrunner โ illustrates both the prestige of the Bathurst 1000 and the competitiveness of the full Supercars season. His 2016 Clipsal 500 win gave Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport its first Supercars race victory and reinforced his reputation for performing under pressure on street circuits.
