Nicolas Carl Hamilton (born 28 March 1992) is a British racing driver who became the first disabled athlete to compete in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). He has achieved a career-best race finish of sixth place at Donington Park and is set to compete for the reigning champion outfit Team VERTU in 2026. Hamilton, who has cerebral palsy, utilizes a specially-modified car to compete in top-level touring car categories. He is the paternal half-brother of seven-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton.

Born in 1992, Hamilton’s early entry into the public eye was defined by his familial connection to Lewis Hamilton and his personal journey with cerebral palsy. His transition into competitive motorsport was documented by the BBC in a production titled Racing with the Hamiltons: Nic in the Driving Seat, which followed his debut season in professional car racing.

Hamilton made his competitive racing debut in 2011, joining the Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom with Total Control Racing. Despite finishing last in his inaugural race, his presence drew significant media and fan interest. He completed his first season 14th in the standings with 133 points. During the same year, he participated in the ERDF Masters Kart series. He remained with Total Control Racing for a second season in the Renault Clio Cup UK in 2012, concluding the year 21st in the championship.

In 2013, Hamilton moved into continental competition by joining the European Touring Car Cup. Driving a SEAT León Supercopa for Baporo Motorsport, he secured tenth place in the final standings with 12 points.

Hamilton entered the British Touring Car Championship in 2015, signing a deal with AmD Tuning to drive an Audi S3 in five rounds of the series. This appearance marked the first time a disabled driver had competed in the BTCC. Following a brief hiatus from the series, he returned to the Renault UK Clio Cup in 2017 with WDE Motorsport, where he partnered Lee Pattison and three-time champion Paul Rivett. He finished 20th in the standings, a result he repeated in 2018 after the team rebranded to JET with WDE Motorsport.

In 2019, Hamilton secured his first full-time BTCC drive with Motorbase Performance, racing alongside teammates Ollie Jackson and Tom Chilton. He moved to Team HARD in 2020, driving a Volkswagen CC under ROKiT sponsorship. During the second round of the 2020 championship at Brands Hatch, Hamilton finished 15th in the final race, marking the first point of his BTCC career.

He continued in the BTCC through 2021 with ROKiT Racing with iQuoto Online Trading, and in 2022 he joined Yazoo with Safuu.com Racing. Driving a Cupra Leon in 2022, he participated in the highest number of races in a single season of his career to that point and improved his average finishing position.

The 2023 season, driving for the rebranded Go-Fix with Autoaid Breakdown squad, became Hamilton's most successful period in the BTCC. At the opening round at Donington Park, he finished sixth in the second race of the weekend. However, his season was cut short when his team collapsed in mid-2023, forcing his withdrawal and leaving him without a seat for the following year. He ended that season 24th in the championship with 10 points.

A significant turning point in Hamilton's career occurred in mid-2023 when the collapse of his team, Go-Fix with Autoaid Breakdown, forced him out of the championship despite achieving his best-ever results earlier that year. This displacement lasted until 2025, when he returned to the grid with Un-Limited Motorsport (rebranded as Powder Monkey Brewing Co with Esidock), finishing the season 28th in the standings.

Hamilton's career is defined by consistent progression within the BTCC framework. While his 2021 season saw him finish 30th with no points, his 2023 campaign showed a peak in performance with a top-ten finish and a 24th-place championship ranking. For the 2026 season, Hamilton is scheduled to move from the Cupra Leon to a Hyundai i30 Fastback N Performance. This move follows his signing with Team VERTU, where he is slated to partner reigning champion Tom Ingram, as well as Tom Chilton and Ricky Collard.

Outside of his driving duties, Hamilton has established a presence in sports broadcasting. On 8 March 2016, he was announced as a member of the Channel 4 presentation team for their Formula One coverage.
