Solberg was present at WRC rounds before his first birthday, attending the 2002 Cyprus Rally as an infant. Though his parents encouraged him to explore other sports including football and ice hockey, he gravitated toward motorsport and was competing in crosskarting by the age of eight. He won multiple Norwegian and Nordic Crosskart Championships in his junior years.
Solberg began professional rallying in 2017 at the age of 15, competing in the Latvian Rally Championship due to age restrictions limiting his options. His first event was Rally Aluksne in a Peugeot 208 R2, where he finished second in class. He returned to Latvia in 2018, finishing second in both the LRC3 and U28 categories.
For 2019 he stepped up to R5 machinery, winning five consecutive rallies to take the Latvian championship title in a Volkswagen Polo GTI R5. One of those rounds, Rally Liepaja, counted for the European Rally Championship, giving him an ERC win on debut against international competition. He also drove six rounds of the American Rally Association season for Subaru USA, winning at the Olympus Rally on his second outing and taking three victories in six starts. He made his WRC debut at the 2019 Wales Rally GB in an R5 car, showing stage-winning pace but ultimately retiring.
In 2020 Solberg ran a full campaign with his own VW Polo R5 and a partial programme with Skoda Motorsport. He won the Rally Sweden Lockdown special event, then scored his first WRC class victory — a WRC3 win at Rally Estonia. He also clinched the 2020 FIA ERC1 Junior Championship title.
Solberg joined Hyundai Motorsport for 2021 with a planned WRC2 campaign. However, after his debut at the Monte Carlo Rally in the Hyundai i20 R5, he was unexpectedly offered a top-level WRC seat for Arctic Rally Finland in the i20 Coupe WRC, finishing seventh overall. He contested further events in WRC2 before returning to the World Rally Car for the season-ending Rally Monza, where he finished fifth.
The 2022 season saw Solberg as Hyundai's third driver on selected events, sharing the seat with Dani Sordo. His best result was fourth at the Ypres Rally. He and Hyundai parted ways at season's end.
Solberg contested a full 2023 WRC2 season for Toksport WRT in the new Skoda Fabia RS Rally2, winning multiple class events including a second victory at Rally Chile and finishing sixth in the WRC2 standings. He was retained for 2024, winning three WRC2 events and taking the championship battle with eventual champion Sami Pajari to the final round at Rally Japan. A crash at Rally Portugal and a puncture at Rally Chile ultimately cost him the title despite winning more WRC2 stages than any other driver that year.
For 2025 Solberg moved to Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT and Printsport, contesting a full WRC2 campaign in the Toyota GR Yaris Rally2. At Rally Estonia he was given the opportunity to drive the Rally1 GR Yaris in his first top-level WRC start since the 2022 Rally New Zealand. He dominated the event, winning nine stages to take his maiden WRC overall victory. He subsequently clinched the 2025 WRC2 Championship alongside co-driver Elliott Edmondson, then joined Toyota as a full-time top-level driver for 2026.
Alongside rallying, Solberg entered the RallyX Nordic Championship in 2017 driving his father's 600 bhp FIA World Rallycross Championship-winning DS3. He had been informally told he could drive it if he could arrange all necessary licences, which he did at short notice. He finished on the podium on debut, won twice in 2017, and took the championship title outright in 2018 with three overall wins. In 2020 he made a cameo at the Holjes All-Star Magic Weekend, finishing third behind Johan Kristoffersson and Robin Larsson. A subsequent Euro RX round appearance at Holjes saw him win on track before being disqualified for an overweight car.
Solberg lives in Gunnarskog, Sweden. His uncle Henning Solberg and cousin Oscar Solberg are also motorsport competitors, and his grandparents have motorsport backgrounds, making the extended Solberg family one of the most deeply entrenched motorsport dynasties in Scandinavia. His career and family story were the subject of the 2019 documentary film Born2Drive, released in Norwegian cinemas. The family also featured in the Discovery+ and TVNorge series Team Solberg. In 2024 he joined Formula 1 driver Lando Norris' Quadrant athlete programme.
