Sherco is a French motorcycle manufacturer specialising in off-road motorbikes, best known for its trials bikes and also producing enduro and supermoto machines. Founded in 1998, the company operates two production facilities: a factory in Caldes de Montbui, Spain, approximately 30 kilometres north of Barcelona, where trials bikes are manufactured, and a factory in Nîmes, France, established in 2003, where enduro and supermoto bikes are built.

The name Sherco derives from an amalgamation of "Bultaco" and "Sherpa," reflecting the company's roots in the Spanish trials motorcycle tradition. The Barcelona factory produced its first trials bike in 1999, with the main chassis design remaining essentially unchanged until 2006 and the engine undergoing significant revision in 2011.

Sherco's trials range has been offered in a wide variety of engine displacements, including 80cc, 125cc, 200cc, 250cc, 272cc (marketed as the 2.9), and 300cc two-stroke machines. A 320cc four-stroke engine was introduced in 2005. In 2009 the company added the prefix ST to its trials model names to distinguish them clearly from the SE enduro and SU supermoto ranges.

In 2006, Sherco revised the 272cc model with a modified cylinder head combustion chamber and reduced transfer port cross-section to produce a mellower throttle response in wet conditions, aiding grip. That year also introduced a limited-edition Cabestany replica 2.9 model.

The 2009 Sherco R was a commercially available version of the works machine ridden by Albert Cabestany, offered in 2.9 two-stroke and 3.2 four-stroke configurations. It featured a titanium exhaust front pipe, high-compression cylinder head, Keihin carburettor, and numerous carbon fibre components.

In 2010, Sherco undertook a significant redesign of its trials bikes by swapping the positions of the fuel tank and air inlet box. Moving the fuel tank lower reduced and repositioned the centre of gravity, while the relocated airbox provided a cleaner air supply to the engine. The 2010 range also revived the Cabestany replica, now fitted with a 300cc engine — a displacement previously reserved for works machines — along with a Dellorto VHST 28mm carburettor, blue frame colour scheme, and titanium front exhaust pipe.

Sherco's enduro range includes the SE 125, SE 250, SE 300, SE XTREM 250, SE XTREM 300, SEF 250, SEF 300, SEF 450, and SEF 500. The trials range comprises the ST 125, ST 250, ST 300, ST-E 250, ST-E 300, ST-F 300, TY 125, and TY Long Ride 125. Supermoto models include the SM 125, SM 500, SM-R 50, SM-RS 50, SM-RS 125, SE-R 50, SE-RS 50, and SE-RS 125.

Sherco supports a factory racing team across trials, enduro, and rally disciplines. Emma Bristow, a British rider, won the FIM World Women's Trials Championship seven times between 2014 and 2020. Spanish trials rider Jeroni Fajardo was a member of the winning Spanish TDN national team at multiple editions between 2004 and 2019. Enduro rider Mario Roman from Spain claimed victories including Hell's Gate Metzeler 2018, the 2019 EL INKA hard enduro in Peru, and the 2019 Extreme XL Lagares in Portugal. South African Wade Young won multiple hard enduro events including Hell's Gate 2016 in Italy, the 2017 Roof of Africa in Lesotho, and the 2017 Extreme XL Lagares. Spanish rally rider Lorenzo Santolino finished sixth at the 2021 Dakar Rally and holds multiple enduro championship credentials including a junior world enduro GP title in 2010. Portuguese rally rider Rui Goncalves competed at the 2021 Dakar Rally, finishing nineteenth.
