The circuit measures 5.935 km in its primary Variant 4b configuration, with a track width of 12 metres and a main straight finishing section of 900 metres. A notable and distinctive feature is a prominent hump on one of the straights that causes cars to become airborne, with front wheels lifting off the ground at speed. Prior to the 2014 season this hump between turns 2 and 3 was rebuilt to reduce the severity of the phenomenon. A separate acceleration testing strip of 1.144 km and 20 metres width is also part of the facility.
Slovakia Ring first appeared on the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) calendar in 2012 as a replacement for the Argentine round. On 29 April 2012 Gabriele Tarquini won Race 1 in a SEAT León while Robert Huff took Race 2 in a Chevrolet Cruze. The circuit continued to host the WTCC Race of Slovakia in 2013, where Tarquini again won Race 1, this time in a Honda Civic, with Tom Coronel winning Race 2 in a BMW 320 TC.
In 2014 Sébastien Loeb won Race 1 in a Citroën C-Elysée while Race 2 was cancelled due to heavy rain. The 2015 event produced victories for Yvan Muller and Loeb, both in Citroën machinery. The 2016 edition saw Tiago Monteiro take the opening reversed-grid race in a Honda Civic, and José María López win the main race in a Citroën C-Elysée.
The circuit returned under the successor FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) regulations in 2018, with Pepe Oriola, Gabriele Tarquini, and Norbert Michelisz claiming the three race victories. At the 2019 round, run concurrently with FIM Endurance support events, winners across the three races were Frédéric Vervisch in an Audi RS3, Néstor Girolami in a Honda Civic, and Ma Qing Hua in an Alfa Romeo Giulietta.
The FIA GT3 European Championship visited Slovakia Ring on 21 August 2011 for its fifth round. The two 29-lap races were won by Dominik Baumann and Brice Bosi, and by Philippe Giauque and Mike Parisy, respectively, both pairs competing in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. The FIA GT1 World Championship held its fourth round of the 2012 season at the venue on 10 June, with Filip Salaquarda and Toni Vilander winning the qualifying race in a Ferrari 458 Italia GT3, while Michael Bartels and Yelmer Buurman took the championship race in a BMW Z4 GT3.
The FIA GT Series visited in August 2013, followed by the Blancpain Sprint Series in August 2014. The ADAC GT Masters also appeared at the circuit in September 2013 and August 2014.
The first 24-hour race held at Slovakia Ring was the Hankook 24H Slovakia Ring on 15–16 June 2016 as part of the Touring Car Endurance Series, with ARC Bratislava by Ferry Monster Autosport leading at the finish by just 20.9 seconds. The FIM Endurance World Championship's 8 Hours of Slovakia Ring ran from 2017 to 2019. The FIA European Truck Racing Championship has been a regular fixture and has featured on the calendar since 2022. The Sidecar World Championship also visited in 2018.
