McCreadie grew up racing go-karts in upstate New York before advancing to small block modifieds. In 2001 he partnered with car owner John Finch, embarking on a dominant two-year run that produced 24 victories at nine tracks, including ten Super DIRT Series wins and the 2001 Weedsport Speedway title. He subsequently drove the Carl Myers-owned Sweeteners Plus modified before the team transitioned full-time to late models in 2005.
McCreadie joined the World of Outlaws Late Model Series on a part-time basis, earning Rookie of the Year honors in 2004. His first full season in a full-fendered car yielded nine wins. The 2006 campaign brought a landmark achievement: McCreadie won the 2006 Chili Bowl driving for Australian speedway team Hawk Racing, then captured the 2006 World of Outlaws Late Model Series Championship. That same year the Eastern Motorsport Press Association voted him the Al Holbert Memorial National Driver of the Year.
In 2007, McCreadie signed a development deal with Richard Childress Racing and competed in six events in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. He recorded top-15 finishes at Gateway International Raceway and O'Reilly Raceway Park and topped speed charts during a Daytona International Speedway test. When sponsorship could not be secured, he and RCR parted ways, and McCreadie returned his focus to dirt racing.
Back on the dirt circuit, McCreadie accumulated victories at a remarkable range of prestigious events over more than a decade:
2008: Won the Topless 100 leading all 100 laps; won the 5th Annual Late Model Knoxville Nationals worth $40,000; won the Jackson 100.
2009: Suffered a serious back injury at the Chili Bowl after a midget car rollover that broke a vertebra, sidelining him temporarily.
2010: Captured the Eastern States 200 at Orange County Fair Speedway, New York.
2012: Won the Gander Mountain 150 for DIRTcar 358 Modifieds at the Syracuse Mile.
2013: Won the USA Nationals at Cedar Lake Speedway, worth $50,000.
2014: Won the Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury American Legion Speedway, worth $25,000.
2017: Won the Silver Dollar Nationals at I-80 Speedway ($53,000) and the North-South 100 at Florence Speedway ($50,000), repeating the latter in 2020.
2018: Became the first New York State driver to win the World 100.
2019: Won the Firecracker 100 at Lernerville Speedway driving the K&L Rumley Enterprises No. 6 Longhorn Chassis, a race he won again in 2022.
2024: Won the Topless 100 for a second time.
In 2016 McCreadie joined the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series full-time, culminating in back-to-back series championships in 2021 and 2022.
McCreadie is the son of Bob and Sandy McCreadie and has two siblings, Tyne and Jordan. His father, "Barefoot" Bob McCreadie, is a legendary modified driver whose honors include induction into the Lowe's Motor Speedway Walk of Fame, the Dirt Motorsports Northeast Hall of Fame, and the Eastern Motorsport Press Association Hall of Fame. Tim McCreadie is widely known by his nickname "T-Mac." In 2026 he was inducted into the Northeast Dirt Modified Hall of Fame.
McCreadie represents a rare breed of racer capable of competing at the elite level across multiple disciplines — dirt modifieds, dirt late models, asphalt NASCAR events, and midget cars. His two Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series titles, combined with his 2006 World of Outlaws championship, place him among the most decorated dirt late model competitors of the modern era. His career arc — from go-kart racing in upstate New York to a brief but noteworthy stint with a top NASCAR organization to dominant dirt tour championships — reflects both his natural talent and his enduring dedication to the craft.
