Milner was born on January 28, 1986, and grew up around motorsport from childhood. His father ran a racing team — later known as PTG Racing Inc. — and Milner spent summers at the shop, immersed in the culture of professional racing long before he took the wheel himself. He began karting at the age of 14 and transitioned into professional sports car racing in the 2004 and 2005 Grand-Am seasons.
Between 2006 and 2010 Milner worked his way through the American Le Mans Series, driving for Panoz in 2006 and 2008 and for Rahal Letterman Racing in 2007, 2009, and 2010. His performances steadily improved through that period and in 2010 he finished third in the GT Driver's Championship, establishing himself as a talent ready for a factory programme.
In 2011 Milner joined Corvette Racing, the long-running General Motors factory GT program, a move that would define his professional career. His partnership with the team proved immediately fruitful: in his first season, he scored a class victory at the 2011 24 Hours of Le Mans driving a Chevrolet Corvette C6.R alongside teammates Antonio García and Olivier Beretta. The GTE-Pro class win at Le Mans remains the signature result of his career to that point.
Milner continued building his record in North American racing. He won his first American Le Mans Series race at the 2012 ALMS Long Beach event and took his first class victory at the 12 Hours of Sebring in 2013. These results across the major endurance rounds established him as a core figure in Corvette Racing's driver lineup.
In the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship era Milner has continued competing for Corvette Racing, driving the Chevrolet Corvette C8.R with co-driver Jordan Taylor as of the time of writing. He also achieved a class victory at the 2022 6 Hours of Monza in the FIA World Endurance Championship, sharing the car with Nick Tandy.
Outside his core Corvette programme, Milner has taken select additional drives. In 2011 he competed at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring for Team Need for Speed Schubert, demonstrating versatility beyond the American endurance scene.
In his early life Milner was also involved in testing amateur racing game modifications, and the developers of those mods went on to found Slightly Mad Studios, the creators of the Project CARS series. Milner was featured in the 2011 racing video game Shift 2: Unleashed, reflecting his profile at the time as one of the rising names in sportscar competition.
