Nojiri began karting in the All-Japan Karting Championship in 2003 and became the FA class champion in 2006. He then moved to Europe, competing in European karting series including the Italian Masters and the World Cup KF1 in 2007. After graduating from the Suzuka Circuit Racing School Formula program in 2008, he earned a scholarship to compete in Formula Challenge Japan in 2009, finishing fifth in the standings both that year and in 2010.
In 2011, Nojiri moved to the All-Japan Formula 3 Championship National Class with HFDP Racing. He scored three victories including on his first start at Suzuka Circuit, finishing second in the championship to Katsumasa Chiyo. He subsequently stepped up to the main Formula 3 championship level, finishing fifth in 2012, and moved to Toda Racing in 2013 where he finished fourth.
Nojiri joined docomo Team Dandelion Racing in the Super Formula Championship in 2014. In just his seventh race, at Sportsland Sugo, he scored his first career victory. He was awarded Rookie of the Year honours ahead of Formula One veteran Vitantonio Liuzzi and reigning Japanese F3 champion Yuichi Nakayama. He remained with Dandelion through 2018, recording championship finishes of seventh, ninth, and seventh over those seasons, along with three pole positions, four podiums, and two fastest laps.
For the 2019 season, Nojiri transferred to Team Mugen in a swap for reigning champion Naoki Yamamoto. The move coincided with the introduction of the new Dallara SF19 chassis, and Nojiri responded with a career-best fourth-place championship finish plus a victory at the season-ending JAF Grand Prix at Suzuka, ending a five-year winless drought.
In 2021, Nojiri opened the season with back-to-back victories at Fuji Speedway and Suzuka, then won a third race at Mobility Resort Motegi. He clinched the Super Formula championship with a round to spare, becoming the first driver since Loic Duval in 2009 to secure the Japanese top-formula title before the final round of the season.
His dominant form continued into 2022. Nojiri strung together four consecutive pole positions and six podiums, never finishing lower than fourth in the opening eight races. He clinched his second consecutive championship at the JAF Grand Prix Suzuka with a second-place finish, then completed the season with a pole-to-win victory. The back-to-back titles made him the first driver since Tsugio Matsuda to win consecutive championships in Japanese top-formula racing.
Nojiri's Super GT involvement began in the GT300 class, with a one-off start for ARTA at the 2013 Suzuka 1000km. He moved to full-time GT300 competition with Team Mugen in 2014 alongside co-driver Yuhki Nakayama, finishing tenth in the class standings.
In 2015, Nojiri graduated to the GT500 class with ARTA, driving a Honda NSX-GT. He took his first GT500 pole position at Sugo in 2017 and then won the fifth round at Fuji Speedway alongside Takashi Kobayashi, recording his maiden GT500 victory. With new co-driver Takuya Izawa from 2018, Nojiri won two rounds including the season finale at Motegi, finishing third in the GT500 championship.
Nirei Fukuzumi joined as co-driver from 2020, and the partnership produced a win at Motegi that year. In 2021, just one week after clinching the Super Formula title, Nojiri and Fukuzumi won consecutive GT500 rounds at Autopolis and Motegi, finishing the year second in the drivers' championship. In 2022 they added a victory at a rain-shortened Golden Week race at Fuji.
Nojiri stands as the defining driver of Super Formula in the early 2020s. His consecutive championships in 2021 and 2022, combined with sustained success in the GT500 class, cemented his status as Honda's marquee factory driver in Japanese domestic motorsport. His ability to win in both disciplines simultaneously โ clinching the 2021 Super Formula title one week before a GT500 victory at Autopolis โ underscored a consistency rare in any era of Japanese racing.
